We’re working with VitalPBX Carrier in our lab. Our ideal scenario is to have a central registrar who will forward invites to the PBX for various vertical services. However, the best way to do this is with Asterisk Realtime.
The persons helping us weren’t sure if VitalPBX supported Asterisk realtime in its truest form. I know that we can add an additional extconfig, but the concern was, if we enabled it will your logic know where things were after the fact?
We haven’t even tried it because we don’t want to end up down a rabbit hole for no reasons.
At this time VitalPBX does not support realtime, however we are also in our laboratory carrying out tests to see the feasibility of being able to apply Realtime in VitalPBX. From now on we can tell you that if it is possible to register extensions pjsip or sip in realtime, where we are having problems in the Dialplan in realtime.
If you get realtime working, you can offload registrations to Kamailio and even run the Kamailio engine on the same server with access to create Subscribers within the GUI itself. This will take the load/responsibility off Asterisk and increase long-term scalability.
