VitalPBX Community Support General Discussion Postfix segmentation fault

    Whether I test mail from the GUI, or directly from the command line, postfix dies with a segmentation fault. For instance:

    aliasesdb[22177]: /usr/libexec/postfix/aliasesdb: line 5: 22179 Segmentation fault /usr/bin/newaliases

    Or:

    [root@vitalpbx ~]# sendmail -bv root
    Segmentation fault

    Ā

    Which lead me to investigate and find that Postfix 2.10.1 is installed. Why? When the last 2.10 release was in 2016 (2.10.10) and 2.10.1 is from 2013.

    Still, 2.10.1 shouldn’t die, should it? I have tried a different main.cf which implements a null client, as should be sufficient for a system that is not receiving any mail. But to no avail.

    You may try to perform a full system update:

    yum update -y

    then, restart the PBX.

    @ing-joserivera26

    I had tried that before I posted. It updated a lot of packages, but none involving postfix. Did not help šŸ™

    Since I wasn’t getting any metoo’s and Google didn’t provide any clues either, which it would if this was not a freak accident, I decided to be bold an yum reinstall postfix.

    That fixed it.

    Does make me wonder how this could have happenedĀ  and worse, what else it may have affected.
