    Hi there,

we haven’t used Virtual Fax module for about 1 month and it was working… now we’d like to use it again but I’ve noticed that we cannot send or receive at all.

When we try sending out a fax, after some seconds, call is normally going out and connected to the called number, we get these errors on log:

    pbx.c: Executing [h@trk-2:2] Hangup(“IAX2/ttyIAX1-14679“, “”) in new stack
    pbx.c: Spawn extension (trk-2, h, 2) exited non-zero on ‘IAX2/ttyIAX1-14679’
    chan_iax2.c: Hungup ‘IAX2/ttyIAX1-14679’

    How can we fix this?

We’re using codec G.711 alaw with T38 enabled (under SIP Settings –> Fax Settings –> Both fax detect and T.38 Pass-though enabled).

In also we’ve already tried updating everything to the last version and I’ve tried to reinstall and / or manual reinstall virtual fax module (licensed), but nothing changed.

    Regards,

    Paolo

Did you make a full update? If you did, then, you have to restart the sever, due the kernel change and some modules or packages are tied to the kernel version.

You may check also if the following services are running:

    systemctl status hylafax-faxq.service
    systemctl status hylafax-hfaxd.service
    systemctl status iaxmodem.service
#Check if the modemd is running:
    systemctl status faxgetty@MODEM.service
    #e.g.:
    systemctl status faxgetty@ttyIAX1.service

Already done a full update yum update, rebooted and then checked those services. Everything seems fine and running!

You may find the logs for any fax received or sent in the following path: /var/spool/hylafax/log/

So, reading the logs, you could determine why the fax are not being send.

Are you sure your  VoIP provider has fax capabilities?

May you share call trace from Asterisk CLI when fax is being send?
