    Hi all,

I am trying to replace current analog PBX with VitalPBX and IP phones and I am trying to re-create same functionality we already have.

On current system, when someone is on the call, they can press HOLD button on the phone. Call is placed on hold and it is possible to resume the call from any extension by just pressing the corresponding button.

Where do I start to implement same on Vital PBX? At the moment, I can put call on hold, but can only resume from same handset.

    Thanks

    Rudolf

As I am unable to edit or remove original post, I have to add it as a reply.

As i am doing some research, I think I should re-phrase the question.

Feature I am looking for is “call park”. Phones (I have Polycom 300SIP and Polycom VVX500) provide button for “call hold”.

I am not 100% sure if “call hold” is a feature of the handset or PBX. If it is a feature of PBX, is there a way to redefine functionality to be a “parked” call instead of “on hold”.

I am currently researching Polycom phones to see if I cn re-define “HOLD” button to send a feature code instead.

    Hello,

This is called parking and you can see how this is done in the VitalPBX Manual.

On current system, when someone is on the call, they can press HOLD button on the phone. Call is placed on hold and it is possible to resume the call from any extension by just pressing the corresponding button.

This is a typical feature of legacy systems called “KTS”, Key telephone system.
Asterisk support a similar feature,  (but not exacty the same) called SLA, Shared line appearance.
I’m not sure but I think VitalPBX doesn’t support SLA.

Parking allow to pick a channel that was put on hold, via parking feature code, from another extension but you must know the parking slot assigned at the time the call was parked.
BLF and Hints to monitor parking slots may help but sure isn’t not user friendly as the legacy KTS implementation.
